‘Still very raw’: Jasmine Harman finds it hard to talk about Jonnie Irwin

ICONINSIDER — Jasmine Harman still finds it “very hard” to talk about Jonnie Irwin.
The 48-year-old presenter was devastated when her ‘A Place in the Sun’ co-host lost his battle with cancer in February aged 50 and though she’s “so proud” of everything she’s achieved in 20 years on the show, looking back is “bittersweet” because her pal is no longer by her side.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I’m so proud to have been part of ‘A Place in the Sun’ for 20 years. It has been life changing for so many people and to be able to help hundreds of couples.
“It has changed my life in so many ways too. ‘I met my husband (a cameraman) Jon on the programme, we’ve got two children now and I feel proud to be able to show people that anything is possible.
‘But [reaching this landmark] has also been very bittersweet. I still find it very hard even talking about Jonnie. It’s still very raw.”
And Jasmine – who has Joy, nine, and Albion, seven, with her husband – has been inspired by Jonnie’s mantra of living every day to its fullest, and has been driven to move to Spain with her family.
She said: “Throughout the last 20 years, I’ve had countless people who had something that has been a catalyst for them, whether that is a bereavement, health scare, or other trauma.
“It has made people think that life is for living and that is a message I would like to say to everyone today.
“Not only from Jonnie’s passing, but we have also lost other family members and other friends as well. It definitely makes you want to make the best of every day.”
Jasmine hopes to stay on the property show for another 20 years.
She quipped: “That’s if they will have me, of course.”
