Ed Sheeran to make CBeebies Bedtime Stories debut

ICONINSIDER — Ed Sheeran is to make his ‘CBeebies Bedtime Stories’ debut.
The ‘Shape of You’ singer is the latest celebrity to take part in the BBC show, and he will be reading ‘I Talk Like a River’ by Jordan Scott, a tale about a boy with a stutter.
Speaking about why the book has a special place for him, the 30-year-old musician said: “Growing up, I had a stutter like the boy in ‘I Talk Like a River’, so I’m delighted to be reading this story for ‘CBeebies Bedtime Stories’, especially as I’m a new dad myself. I hope the story helps inspire and support other children who stutter.”
Ed has 13-month-old daughter Lyra with his wife Cherry Seaborn, 29.
In 2015, the ‘Bad Habits’ hitmaker opened up about how he used learning to rap as a method to overcome struggles with his speech. Speaking at a fundraiser in New York for American Institute of Stuttering, he said: “My Uncle Jim told my dad that Eminem was the next Bob Dylan – it’s pretty similar, it’s all just storytelling – so my dad bought me ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ when I was nine years old, not knowing what was on it.
“I learned every word of it, back to front, by the time I was 10. He raps very fast and melodically and percussively, and it helped me get rid of the stutter.”
Other famous faces who have read stories as a part of the CBeebies programme include Dolly Parton, Tom Hardy and David Hasslehoff.
Ed’s ‘CBeebies Bedtime Story’ will air on Friday 5 November.
