‘That’s not even Matty Healy that’s me! Nick Grimshaw gets confused for Taylor Swift’s ex

ICONINSIDER.COM — Nick Grimshaw has quipped he feels like a “tortured poet” after he was confused for Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend Matty Healy.
The former BBC Radio 1 DJ, 39, was snapped at a party with the 34-year-old pop superstar and The 1975 frontman, 35, back in 2015, and the photograph has been re-shared in articles in light of the ‘Anti-Hero’ hitmaker writing about their relationship on her new album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
As a result, Nick has been inundated with messages from strangers in America and even friends and family who are confused.
In an Instagram video, he said: “I just got home and thought I’d have a bit of phone time. I have never had as many messages from friends, family members, from random people in the US that I don’t know all about Taylor Swift.
“Today, never mind The Tortured Poets Department, I’ve been tortured. I don’t know what happened but everyone seems to confuse me with Matty Healy so now I’m in this conversation.”
Nick then showed the articles with the pictures and said: “I don’t know what’s going on guys, we’re here…”
One headline read: “Taylor Swift madly in love with Matty Healy,” but it was a snap of Nick and Taylor.
Nick continued: “There I am, sorry there they are… We’re now in the paper ‘Taylor Swift fans spot hidden ‘proof’ that TTPD is about Matty Healy.”
He fumed: “That’s not even Matty Healy that’s b***dy me!”
The post was captioned: “Feeling like a tortured poet today…”
The pair dated briefly last summer and new song ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’ appears to reference the indie musician with lyrics including “Jehovah’s Witness suit” and “rusting my (Swift’s) sparkling summer”.
Taylor and Matty had a brief relationship last year, which ended in June.
He is currently dating 26-year-old model Gabbriette Bechte, while Taylor has moved on with NFL star Travis Kelce, 34.
Matty’s aunt Debbie Dedes – who is the sister of his famous mother Denise Welch – told the MailOnline: “Nothing surprises him anymore. He will not be surprised by the song. Him and her know what went on.
“She writes about all her relationships, doesn’t she? I don’t think it will come as a shock to him at all.
“He’s very happy in his new relationship so I’m sure he will be focusing on that.
“As my nephew, we know a bit more about what went on than has been in the press.”
Taylor, 34, and Matty, 35, had a brief relationship last year, which ended in June.
