Colin Thackery wants to perform at Glastonbury

ICONINSIDER — Colin Thackery wants to perform at Glastonbury.
The 89-year-old ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner doesn’t think he’s the typical sort of artist who would play at the world-famous music event, but that doesn’t mean he’d rule out taking to the stage if he were asked.
Asked if he’s interested in performing at Glastonbury, he said: “You mean where all the pop singers go? I don’t sing pop music, my friend. International stars can go and sing anywhere they want. I just do as I’m told.”
Then pushed on whether he was definitely saying no to the idea, he admitted: “Of course it’s not a no.”
The Chelsea Pensioner will perform in front of Queen Elizabeth at the Royal Variety Performance in November – which is part of his prize for winning ‘BGT’ – and he admitted he can “die happy” after that because he’s such a big fan of the monarch.
He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I served her for 25 years. She’s the tops.
“She’s unwavering, she acts very well and she doesn’t try to be trendy. When she was young, everybody fell in love with her.”
Colin has a room at London’s Royal Hospital Chelsea and though the other residents are largely supportive of his new-found fame, he admitted there is some “resentment” from a small number.
Asked how the other residents have reacted to his fame, he said: “It’s a mixed bag. Ninety-five per cent of the guys are right behind me. But there is, inevitably as there would be in any society, some resentment.”
Thankfully for the veteran, the occasional “snide” remark he receives have led to “the guys on [his] side” quickly springing to his defence.
