Carrie Underwood: I’d support my son if he pursued a music career

ICONINSIDER.COM — Carrie Underwood would “support” her son if he wanted to pursue a singing career.
The 37-year-old country star enlisted the help of her five-year-old son Isaiah for her recent Christmas album, ‘My Gift’, and has now said she would love it if he decided to follow in her footsteps and launch his own music career when he’s older, but insisted she isn’t putting any pressure on him to do so.
She told Drew Barrymore on an episode of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’: “You can kind of tell when someone has pitch. He can sing along with me and you can tell what song he’s singing if he’s just singing on his own, because he’s singing the correct notes. He’s almost six but he is just a little guy. So I don’t know if he’ll have that or have that passion at all.
“We’re supportive of whatever he wants to do, but he definitely has pitch so I figured him coming in and singing, we could make it to where [we] could use the best parts of whatever he did and make it good.”
Isaiah – whom Carrie has with her husband Mike Fisher – made his singing debut on a cover of ‘Little Drummer Boy’, and Carrie previously said she was moved to tears by her little boy’s vocals.
She said in December: “I got to listen to his vocals [get] put together and then listening to myself with him. I was laughing, and I was crying, and it was just very overwhelming in a good way. It’s just very emotional.”
The ‘Before He Cheats’ hitmaker – who also has Jacob, who turns two later this month, with Mike – is already in the process of making her next album, which will be a gospel record titled ‘My Saviour’, but has said Isaiah won’t be joining her on any of the upcoming tracks.
She revealed: “He did not get back into the recording booth for this album. We got to ease our way in. He’s gonna think he’s a special singer before it’s too long I’m sure.”
