EastEnders’ Adam Woodyatt wants Cindy back from the dead for Dallas-style Ian comeback

ICONINSIDER — Adam Woodyatt wants Michelle Collins’ ‘EastEnders’ character Cindy Beale to come back from the dead as part of a ‘Dallas’-inspired comeback for Ian Beale.
The 52-year-old actor has no idea when he will reprise his role, but he would love to return to Walford in an explosive scene in which his late ex-wife Cindy turns out to be alive – in a nod to Bobby Ewing’s return from the dead in ‘Dallas’ in the mid-1980s when he appeared in the shower and his passing was written off as a dream of his fiancée and ex-wife, Pamela Barnes Ewing (Victoria Principal).
Adam said: “I think he should come back like Bobby Ewing, in the shower, and Cindy Beale is still alive.”
He was last seen playing the bumbling businessman in January when Ian left Albert Square after Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) tried to kill him to avenge the death of her son Denny Rickman (Bleu Landau).
The star filmed his exit scenes in November, but he couldn’t have a leaving party due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: “There was no party. I just cleared out my dressing room, took my plaque off the door and loaded it in the car, because I couldn’t get it on my bike.”
Adam is currently on the longest break he has ever had from the BBC One soap – which he has starred in since the show began in 1985 – to lead the cast of play ‘Looking Good Dead’.
But he doesn’t have a fixed ‘EastEnders’ return date just yet as the theatre production’s tour may still be on in May after dates had to be rescheduled due to the pandemic.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, he added: “We’re hoping we’re going to pick up some of the dates we’ve had to postpone for the tour early next year through to, hopefully, May.
“But we don’t know.”
